During every October, the capital of freerunning moves on the white rooftops and small alleys of the famous Santorini Island in Greece. Runners from all over the world gather here to meet, have fun and compete in one of the most challenging events.
This year, the Red Bull Art of Motion International Competition on the beautiful Greek island of Santorini, in Oia Village, was won by the local Dimitris Kyrsanidis. He is the freerunner who amazed the audience with unbelievable tricks and strong self-confidence. Pavel Petkuns (LAT) took second place for the second year, while Luci Romberg (USA) won the Best Female Award for the second consecutive year. Have a look at the video for a small introduction:
The event consists in various trainings and freerunning sessions. The final contest (where the world’s best freerunners compete) is the most spectacular.

You have all the ingredients not to miss it next year, as the organizers say that “the community really uses this week in Greece to gather and celebrate the sport together in one of the best natural environments you can find for freerunning. For most, Red Bull Art of Motion is an international contest in the idyllic setting of Santorini, Greece. For the athletes though, this annual date on the iconic island is so much more. It’s a friends reunion from all over the world.“
